Health literacy is the capacity for individuals to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and the health services that are available to them. Through the years, health care organizations, community services, health literacy coalitions, government agencies, and universities have hosted a wide range of Health Literacy Month events. These include how-to workshops for professionals, wellness programs for the public, and educational seminars for students at all levels.
The theme for Health Literacy Month 2016 is “Be a Health Literacy Hero.” Health literacy heroes are those who take action in finding ways to improve health communication. Click the links above for more info.
