Foothills Surgery Center wishes you a Happy Mother’s Day and a Happy National Women’s Health Week. This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 8, which also marks the beginning of National Women’s Health Week. This is a time for women to make their health a priority, and for men to support the women in their lives reach their health goals. Together we can all take steps to improve our health. Visit the official website for National Women’s Health Week to obtain health improvement resources tailored to women. We encourage all women to ‘Take the Pledge’ to better health while visiting the site and schedule a check-up with your primary care provider in honor of National Women’s Check-up Day on Monday, May 9.
Our nurses are at the core of our success as a medical facility. They are involved in all steps of patient care, ensuring a safe and quality experience at Foothills Surgery Center. If nurses have been instrumental in providing you with a positive health care experience, take a moment to recognize the care you received by thanking them. National Nurses Week begins on Friday, May 6 and ends on Thursday, May 12. Click here to send a nurse a special thank you in honor of National Nurses Week.
Foothills Surgery Center invites you and your family to join us for a patient education talk with Kara Beasley, DO, of Boulder Neurosurgical and Spine Associates, and Alan Zacharias, MD, of Associated Neurologists. The free health lecture, “Controlling Involuntary ‘Tremors’,” will focus on the newest approaches in diagnosing and treating tremors due to Parkinson’s and Essential Tremor. Come hear about the new medications and therapies combating tremors, as well as deep brain stimulation (DBS), a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that can calm tremors and help with the stiffness and slowness of Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Beasley is one of very few dually credentialed neurosurgeons and bioethicists in the world. Her areas of interest include tumor, deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, neuromodulation for refractory chronic pain, and the surgical treatment of epilepsy. She is currently able to perform Stage 2 DBS surgery in the outpatient setting at Foothills Surgery Center.
The free health lecture will take place on Thursday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to noon at Calvary Bible Church, 3245 Kalmia Ave., Boulder, CO.
Reservations are required! Please call 303-415-4212 or visit bchlectures.org/tremors to RSVP.
